I have an acer aspire one mini laptop, and it has a built in camera and microphone, but it only lets me take pictures. How can i get it to record videos with sound?
You need a new webcam program.

I have an Acer aspire m1610. For the life of me i cannot switch the preferences from the onboard to the external video card. HELP.
(step by step instructions would be appreciated)
That computer has the onboard Sis Mirage 3 graphics. Once a dedicated video or graphics card is installed on the vacant x16 PCIe slot, the onboard video is automatically disabled.
OR you could just reset CMOS. With PC unplugged, reset using the CMOS jumper pin switch on motherboard OR simply by removing CMOS battery (looks like a silver coin) for at least 30 sec. Then power ON PC. Press Del or F1 to open BIOS menu. Load fail-safe defaults, save and exit. PC should start normally using the dedicated video card..

I have 3 disks. Disks 1 and 2 of the “Recovery Disks” and 1 disk of the “System Discs”. How do I restore my laptop to factory defaults? Alt+F10 on the acer logo at the beginning didn’t work. I have restored it before with these disks but I can’t remember how.
Go into the system’s BIOS by pressing the DEL key (or whatever key the splash screen tells you to press when it boots)
Set your DVD drive as the primary boot drive. The user’s manual should detail how to do this.
Insert the Recovery disk into your computer, save and exit the BIOS, and then wait for the computer to reboot.
Press any key when you’re prompted to boot from the recovery disk, Acer eRecovery should begin.

Please note: In the Main section of the BIOS there’s also a D2D option which should be set to enabled for the Drive to Drive recovery to work.
If it is off, set it to On and then try the ALT+F10 recovery option again.
A D2D recovery is faster than recovering from DVD.

EDIT: As of June 15, 2009, this is the cheapest optical drive in new condition that is available online.
It is easily the best deal because not only is it the cheapest one, but HP is one of the best brands for computer/computer accessories.

I have acer games on my netbook & i really want to know the unlock code so i can play however long i want, whenever i want. Plants vs zombies is a really fun game. Does anybody know an unlock code for this game? Pretty please, i’d greatly appreciate it.
I’m fairly certain that you have to buy the game to get the code and i dont believe that someone will just give you a code, when you can go and find an unlegit version somewhere.

I need a new charger for my laptop because this one is not even responding to being plugged in so when I looked up acer laptop chargers on ebay there’s SO many. I need to know what type of acer laptop I have but I don’t know how.

I just noticed that my Acer Aspire 5315-2153 has video conference on it. I looked at this sticker on the lower right part of my keyboard part of my laptop that says “Acer Video Conference*” on it. What steps on my laptop do I have to do?
You may also not actually have video conference. At the bottom of the sticker it may have a start with “specification vary depending on model” and if you have that start next to video conference, you may not have. However like the person said above, you may have to pay for it.

I have an acer aspire x3810 which is a low profile case. I’m wondering if I can transfer the motherboard to a different case because i’m planning to put a new power supply and graphics card but the case was too small.
And any recommendations for a gpu that would fit on my motherboard and be able to run metro 2033 smoothly.
My budget is around 0.
You can always install it, into a bigger case. As long as it is ATX or MATX.

Alt+F10 option doesn’t work, neither does my disc. I put my disc in, it opens up into seperate folder files, not like a powerpoint. Please someone help. Acer Technical Support are unhelpful, a total waste of time & phone call. It was my biggest mistake ever made in buying this make & model computer.

You have to press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly as soon as you switch the machine on, it needs to be the first instruction the laptop gets before anything else runs, otherwise it does not work.
It is difficult to get right, I have been doing this many years and still have to have a few goes at it sometimes to enable it.
If trying to boot from the recovery disc you created then you need to ensure the machine is set ot boot from the CD drive first or it will not be able to read the boot data from the disc. Go into the BIOS, switch on the F12 options (so you can choose which drive to boot from), on restart press F12 and select boot from the CD drive. It should then boot your recovery CD and just follow the instructions.

When my computer battery runs down my Acer Aspire 6530 goes into hibernation. When I then plug in mains power I am unable to wake the computer up and then have to reboot, which of course is bad for the computer and makes it do a scan each time.
Of course I do my best to always plug into the mains, but surely there must be an easy answer- I literally have tried everything….

Resume Hibernate Session can be done by turning it on again… IF the hibernation process is completed …
