I have an acer laptop. When I want to connect to the internet it says to turn on wireless capability using the wireless switch.
When I hit it, it kept sayong wireless unenabled or something.

Chosen Answer:

It’s one of the long, thin buttons on the very front of the laptop. It’s easy to accidentally turn it on/off with your belt buckle.

The screen should flash “Wireless Enabled” in big green letters when you hit it.

I bought a 2GB memory stick for my Acer 5630. It currently has 512MB and it is extremely slow. I have never done any memory upgrade for computers before. Where can I find the memory slots? Any precautions I should be aware of?

Chosen Answer:

Here are some useful documents that should help you install the memory in your laptop.

It’s an Acer Extensa 5230E

My brother was sitting in his bunk bed and his laptop was in front of him. The screen part (the back side) hit the rail and now when he turns it on a weird thing comes up like the screen is broken. How expensive is it to fix this? He is really upset and my mom is very angry.

Chosen Answer:

A quick check on eBay shows replacement screens going for anywhere between -0.

If you pay a shop to put in the new screen all you would have to pay is labor, seeing as you brought in the replacement part. Most shops I have dealt with charge anywhere between -0/hr for labor. Changing out a screen is a relatively simply job, so I would guesstimate maybe 1 hour tops for the job.

In all, you’re looking at about a 0 fix if you use a shop. Replacing laptop screens isn’t that hard. There are tons of good videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it step by step. If you follow one of those and do the work yourself, replacing the screen will be a cost effective repair.

My files and applications have gone all corrupt, it’s hard to do anything. I want to set it back to the factory default, but I have no idea what the password is! I tried the 000000 one but that didn’t work. Anyone have any help?

I’m on an acer desktop using vista.

Chosen Answer:

here is one of the answers for obtaining the eRecovery Password.

IN the recovery partion there is a file
\TOOLS\AIMDRS.DAT
which contains the password.

Now you have to get in!
I think a decent partition manager should enable you to browse a partitioon
(partitionmagix, acronis disk director,etc.)
otherwise you have to takethe risk and set D2D on in the BIOS,press Alt-F10
just after BIOS screens and press Ctrl-C when the system boots into the
recovery partition to break out of the autoexec.bat.
After that is just:
TYPE TOOLS/AIMDRS.DAT

Note that this may be slightly different for your model, but the principle will
be the same: there must be a file that stores the password, and since you
changed the pwd it must be one of the few most recent files in the partition.

Okay so i have an acer aspire one laptop with vista, the thing is on my mom and dad’s regular desktop computer i can create a WAV version and everything will work but not with my laptop.
HELP!

Chosen Answer:

Step 1

Open Windows Movie Maker. If you don’t have a short cut for the software on your computer’s desktop, simply type the word “maker” in your search bar and click on “Windows Movie Maker” from the available programs that come up.

Step 2

Click on the Import Media folder.

Step 3

Click on the Music folder and then double click on the iTunes folder when it pops up.

Step 4

Select the iTunes music folder by double clicking on it, and then scroll down and choose the song you would like to import into Windows Movie Maker.

Step 5

Click on the title of the song you would like to add and then click on “Import.” You have now added your iTunes song to your Windows Movie Maker project.

Also, Windows movie maker does not support the I-Tunes music format “AAC”. If the song you want to use is in this format you could rip it to a CD and import it from there. Or if you want to have it on your computer to use from there, just import it back into I_Tunes as a MP3; ” EDIT, PREFERENCES, ADVANCE, IMPORT, MP3″

I hope this helps!

I am trying to connect my Palm Centro to my (newer) Acer Aspire and neither my phone or my laptop will recognize one another. I know for a fact that my phone has bluetooth capabilities and that they are turned on, but when I press the bluetooth button on my laptop it shows a red “x” through the bluetooth symbol.

Chosen Answer:
