Question by phishfour: Does Nikon or Canon make a compact camera that shoots in RAW?
I have a Nikon D70S, but I want a point and shoot that I can carry around with me everywhere (pocket camera) when I don’t want to lug my DSLR around. I want one that shoots in RAW though. Does either Nikon or Canon make a point and shoot that does this?

I could not find a Nikon P&S with RAW capability, but some of the Canon “G” series cameras do

Question by Diane M: What is your opinion of the Nikon D40x camera?
I’m thinking about purchasing one. Ritz Camera is offering a 2 lens kit right now with Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor Lens and Nikon 55-200 mm F/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Lens. Are these decent lenses for the price (the whole kit is $ 1000)? I am new to photography and have outgrown 2 different point and shoot cameras in 4 years. I like the quick start up and 3 fps continuous shoot. I love to shoot my kids, but also enjoy landscape and wildlife. I like to zoom in as much as I can.

It is a logical move from point and shoot cameras. You will find it will give you more satisfying control over your images.

Have fun and shoot like a wild person. Film is cheap! That camera and those lenses should keep you busy for many years.

Question by Chanel C: I have a Nikon D40x camera and when I try to take a picture it makes a screeching noise, not processing?
I accidently dropped my Nikon D40x camera a week ago but it only fell on the side. That was my first time ever dropping it. Please Help me try and fix it!

Oh, dear.

Call Nikon 800.NIKON-UX

The screeching noise is probably coming from the lens motor

Dropping cameras has always been something to avoid

Question by : I have a Nikon D80 with a kit lens. Should I get a new lens or new camera?
I really want to ‘up my game’ with my photos. My camera takes relatively good photos, but i need to edit them most of the time. My Nikon D80 has a normal kit lens, but I really am looking to get a Canon eos rebel t3i. Or even a Canon 7D, if budget allows. Should i spend my money on a new lens? or a new camera that has better image quality than my current camera?

Best answer:

Answer by Bruce M
We all need to “edit”. The image the camera takes is not final product. Just like in the good ol days when you took your film to the lab there is that one extra step needed for a print to look good.

So, You have the 18-55? if so then changing lens would be useful. I know, your looking for a reason on here to move over to the Canon.

SO here is my take. You can spend 1250.00 more or less on a f2.8 zoom lens for your Nikon and stick with Nikon for the next cpl of years till the new DSLRs come out with higher MPs to work with. Your new Nikon lens will work on them even in FX sensor size if you buy right.
OR
You can spend that same money on a Canon L lens and then add the D7 body so your set for the next 5 years.

Question by : How to transfer photos from camera to flash card — Nikon Coolpix 4600?
I have a Nikon Coolpix 4600 but lost the Camera to PC connector cable — I know you can transfer the pictures on your camera to your flash card from the camera itself, I’ve done it before. I just don’t remember how. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

“If all else fails, read the manual”.

That having been said, check your camera’s various option menus. At some point there should be something that mentions TRANSFER TO CARD.

The 70-200mm is one of the most popular lenses around, but Canon has a few options available. Of course, the f/2.8 IS II is the newest, but what about the older version and f/4 version – do they make good alternatives? I’m currently using a Canon AE-1, Canon SX110, and now thinking of buying the D70. Is it better than buying a camera such as the Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel XS? Lastly with a DSLR such as this one, will I be able to create good quality photos even though the camera is 6.1 mp?

Best answer:

Answer by fhotoace
In order to copy your image files from the internal memory, you have to use the USB cord that came with your camera.

I guess you will not leave the house without one SD card in your camera and a second one in your pocket

Question by W-D-F-A: I’m looking for a camera for school it has to be Nikon or Canon DSLR which would you recommend?
I’m looking for a camera for school, I’m going to have a degree in photography. I can only choose a Nikon DSLR or a Canon DSLR. I’m having trouble choosing because these to types of cameras are awesome, which camera would you recommend?

Best answer:

Answer by Jim A
I own and recommend the Canon Rebel XS for many reasons. It’s build is superb and so are the photos. It’s very easy to learn and use.

I’ve added a couple of lenses besides the kit lens at 18-55. I have a
Tamron 18-200, my work horse because it’s wide at the bottom with a pretty good reach. I also have a Canon 75-300 for that long stuff that pops up from time to time.

Take a look here to see the shots I’m getting. Read my notes because one shot on my first page was done with my Fuji.
